Please read the attached readings on Education (Jensen and Nouwen).
Provide a summary for both readings separately. (300 words TOTAL for both reading summaries is a minimum. You do not need to write 300 words of summary for each reading, but you are welcome to. Feel free to write more than the minimum if you like). Your summaries should focus on the central argument of the author (their conclusion, evidence, any examples).
[For example, your summary of Nouwen’s article on violent and redemptive education should include, at a minimum, descriptions of violent education and redemptive education, and address any obstacles he sees in coming to a redemptive model.]
Then, reflect on both of the readings. Here are some optional questions to consider in your reflection. You can answer as many or as few as you like.
1. What resonated with you in the readings?
2. What in the readings reflect your own experience of education?
3. Has your experience of education been more violent or redemptive? Explain or give examples.
4. Given the insights from Jensen and Nouwen, what expectations should you have of yourself in this class? Of your classmates? Of your professor.
(300 words minimum reflection). Make sure your summary and your reflection are distinct. It should be clear where the author’s argument ends and your reflection begins.
600 words TOTAL for summary and reflection on both readings.
