What am I required to do in this assignment?
This is a pair assignment. The assignment involves two tasks. In the first task you will have to submit an E – Poster
(60%) and in the second task, you will have to conduct an oral presentation (40%).

PART 1: E POSTER
Poster: Pair Task
Salim is a student in MUC, has a keen interest in innovations and has come up with an innovative machine that allows
customers to mix their own fragrances, and he is finally ready to start commercialising it. He had a prototype that
worked well, and he had a few potential customers who were interested in buying it. But before he could sell any
machines, he needed to get legal advice.
Salim approached your legal consultancy firm, seeking for your advice in establishing his business in Oman. He seeks
advice on establishing contracts with the manufacturer of the machines in a way that protect his innovation from
disclosing the details of the innovation to anyone else.
Prepare a portfolio of information through searching through legal publications, academic sources, interviewing
legal officials in various ministries. Portfolio creation is to gather information. This portfolio must be submitted to
your tutors during the week 12/13.
Based on the scenario, you are required search Omani legal information for your legal consultancy task suggest a
suitable type of legal business for your client. Discuss all the legal procedures pertaining to the formation,
management and the dissolution of the suggested business. You are also required to suggest, the specific Omani legal
labour laws, environmental laws as well as the relevant intellectual property rights to be taken into consideration in
the said business proposal.
You can visit websites; meet legal experts and relevant officials in different ministries who are related to your
consultancy task. Collect information from books, journals and other publications. You can use any source that is useful
for your purpose.
You are required to discuss the essential elements of a contract, formation of offers and acceptance, termination of
offers, breach and discharge of contracts. Your suggestions should be relevant to the scenario above.

To sufficiently address this assignment, you will have to refer to the lecture notes as well as conduct independent
research in efforts to display the level of critical thinking required. Write a title and the title must be related to the
contents you are narrating. Use your creativity and imagination. Your presentation must be supported by reading
from academic sources covering the assignment requirement.
You will keep a record of all the information that you gather and present it in the form of a E-poster.
E-poster Guidelines:
•
The presentation should be designed using CANVA application and submitted in Turnitin as text readable PDF file.
•
Students are required to use CANVA only from computers or laptops to download the text readable PDF file.
• Avoid using mobile phones and notepads/tablets for creating the CANVA poster.
•
The Poster must be submitted via MOVE through Turnitin.
•
The oral presentation will be for 15 minutes followed by a Q&A session for 5 minutes for each pair. Both the
members should contribute equally and the same will be assessed through oral presentations, and question and
answer sessions.
•
Your e-poster should include:

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Your work will be graded on the following aspects:
● The assignment MUST be submitted on-line (through MOVE) on or before the due date.
● The assignment should be submitted with the assignment cover page (template provided) added to the assignment.
● Generative Artificial Intelligence tools such as ChatGPT and Bard is prohibited for this assignment.
● Your assignment shall reflect the depth and breadth of your original analyses in a clear and coherent manner.
● Use of the relevant academic literature to support ideas and issues discussed. The range of academic sources such as
texts and journals to support your arguments and comments.
● This is a pair assignment and carries a weighting of 60%+40% for individual presentation towards the final module grade.
● This assignment follows an e-poster (modify according to the requirement of your assignment) and must be original and
creative. The use of ‘cut and paste’ approach will be penalised. It must be presented in a structured manner, references
are required.
● Your e-poster should not exceed two pages.
● All assignments must be adhered strictly to the deadlines specified by Majan University College. Failure to hand in the
assignment for any reason and without prior approval and a valid written extension from the module tutor will not be
marked and will be awarded a grade G (0) irrespective of the quality of the work. See Student Handbook, section 4.3,

Deliverables
Submission
At the time of submission, you need to make sure that the assignment is your own and all the sources have been acknowledged.
The e-poster should be submitted online via a formal channel (MOVE) before the due date. One person should take
the responsibility for submitting the PDF file format. The link for submission will be available a week (date of
submission ….) and failing to do so will be treated as non-submission.

The e-poster (a page) should not exceed 2 pages (including references)

What do I need to do to pass? (Threshold Expectations)
In order to pass the assessment, you need to prepare an e-portfolio that includes all information as mentioned in the task.
You need to be clear in your speech and you are expected to use vocabulary related to your topic. E-poster should be
clear to read and understand. You should be able to answer the questions asked by the lecturer.
Overall, the e-poster should be clear and adequately patterned and designed. Content arrangement should be clear
without confusion and should adequately help viewer to understand without narration. Your understanding of the issues
should be clear in the e-poster. Use of technical vocabulary is required during the presentation. You need to present an
adequate amount of confidence with subject knowledge. Questions should be responded clearly.
How do I produce high quality work that merits a higher grade?
Overall, the presentation should contain the use of proper colour and patterns, classic use of font size and font types.
Appropriate use of graphics, tables should be made in order to make it very easy for the viewer to understand the order
without narration. You should be able to exhibit a high level of understanding with the ability to synthesis and summarise
information precisely. You are expected to demonstrate a very high level of confidence and a very high level of
command over the subject and exhibit relevant and appropriate gestures. Your response to the questions needs to be
precise, exhibiting high level of confidence and reasoning.
How does assignment relate to what we are doing in scheduled sessions?
In the course of the task preparation, there will be orientation and briefing to guide the students to the proper things to
do in complying the assignment task. Thus, during the briefing sessions, students will be given the opportunity to ask
questions for clarification and enlightenment. The orientation should be a venue to help the students to properly carry
out the tasks accordingly, but they are expected to do it outside the class sessions.
During the class the lecturer will provide you with information that is related to the poster topics. Various class activities
will enable you to understand the assessment better. Module handout contains information that is mostly related to the
poster topic. MOVE activities also help you in handling the assessment.
