Unit 2 DB: Modifications in an Inclusive Elementary ClassroomWe know that each child is unique and special in their way. As educators, we may question how to provide support if we have not received any formalized training in special education. Adapting your classroom with accommodations and modifications can establish a solid foundation for the learning of all children, from birth to 8 years of age. For this discussion, first, watch the above videos that are listed below:Video: Meaningful Inclusion in Early Childhood EducationVideo: Strategies for Supporting Dual Language Learners in an Early Childhood Classroom Video: Preschool Inclusion: Samantha / Meeting the Needs of Diverse Learners Then, share the following: Identify and describe at least two (2) strategies the teachers in the videos used to manage their classrooms to support all of their students. Discuss how implementing the strategies impacts the learning of typically developing peers in the classroom. Create an additional strategy you would use for a child with special needs or a dual language learner to ensure their individual needs are met, and they are a full and valued member of their class. Include your rationale for choosing this strategy. In your two responses to peers and/or instructor, compare and contrast the strategy and rationale of your classmate to that of your own choice of strategy and rationale.
