At the end of Project 3, you will be ready to turn in a final draft of your essay that does the
following:
• Explores a place, thing or practice of interest to the writer — connected to an aspect of
their current or future identity — in which the writer’s voice is prominent and shapes
the conversation effectively.
• Effectively and responsibly uses a range of source types (minimum 1 interview
conducted by you (the student-writer), 2-3 academic, minimum 2-3 popular, optional
primary source; minimum of 6 sources) to explore the area of inquiry.
• Attends to structure and visual elements to enhance clarity and meaning.
• Length is 2,000 – 3,000 words
• Communicates with a clear audience in mind.
• Uses copy-editing to develop clarity, voice, style.
• Has been thoughtfully revised and reflected on, in alignment with feedback and
revision plan.
