Introduction

For this assignment, you will dive into the world of big data in health care. The potential for big data analytics in health care is vast. There is potential for improving patient outcomes. For example, advanced analytics could be applied to patient profiles in an effort to proactively identify potential preventative measures or lifestyle changes. We are seeing the use of big data in population health efforts as well. We have seen this most recently with the COVID-19 outbreak and the broadscale profiling of the disease in an attempt to predict outbreaks and implement prevention efforts. You will examine how big data is changing the delivery of healthcare services and the role the informaticist plays.
