You will need to post a response to either Part A or Part B with your initial post. For your replies, you will need to respond to an initial post for both Part A and Part B. In order to provide a substantive response, you will of course need to carefully read all readings for this week.

Part A
After reading chapters 1, 3 and 5 in Hinchman, thoroughly explain the following:

1.important considerations when thinking about valuing and motivating adolescents and how this differs from primary or elementary values,

2.how this information gives definition or focus to disciplinary literacy and content area literacy,

3.what you might do in your work with discipline/content teachers to convey these ideas, and

4.what you agree or disagree with.

Part B
Read chapters 1 and 3 and also watch the Tovani video #4, and then answer the following questions:

1.What did you learn about how Tovani thinks about reading?

2.How does this video and text represent adolescents and their needs?

3.How could you apply the information to your life as a reading specialist? Give a few details.
