Assignment 1:
Purpose: Exception to the Rule provides a foundational base for examining the application
of values and virtues within the global organizational environment.
Directions:
1. Read the Introduction and Chapter 1 of Exception to the Rule: The Surprising
Science of Character-Based Culture, Engagement, and Performance.
2. The Exception to the Rule Reflection Rubric below should be used as a guide
to complete this assignment, with page number citations.
3. Reflection lengths will vary. The recommended length of the reflection is two
to five pages, double-spaced in size 12 font.
4. The reflection should provide three key takeaways, two areas of concern or
disagreement, and one follow-up question with supporting thoughts.
Use headings and subheadings as a title for each response. Use the source
provided. Use an additional 2 references.

Assignment 2 (religious studies):
Directions: A meaningful reflection should be approximately one page to a page and a
half in length. The selections in the Prayer/Reflection are intended to be guiding
materials for discussion responses and should be incorporated when formulating the
initial response. APA sources are not required for the Faith-Based Discussion, but you
should cite at least two paragraphs of the Rule of St. Benedict
