You will explain to readers HOW develop the kinds of skills, practices, traits, attitudes and/or behaviors a successful college student cultivates and sustains to achieve academic excellence or success. Each body paragraph should be organized by a specific group of behaviors, skills, traits, practices, etc. You should offer concrete examples and methodologies of how a person can acquire those important skills, attitudes, behaviors, etc. Before you explain how to acquire behaviors and skills, be sure to include reasons why the practices/behaviors/skills/habits are relevant for academic success. Your argument will be strengthened by offering an example of what may occur in the absence of that skillset, behavior, or trait.

Following the BOTPO formula for outline and the final outline structure: double-space, underline thesis statement, italicize topic sentences and write complete sentences for topic sentences. Supporting ideas only need to be a few words; do NOT write sentences for the supporting ideas.

Use the template provided and look at “Sample Step 2 PA” in Week 2 and Week 3 modules, as well as “Essay #1 Process Analysis” module.
