For this course you are going to investigate a mental health issue that impacts communities and recommend evidence-based practices to address the issue. You can choose any of the topics covered in this course, including but not limited to community health, maternal health, HIV/chronic illness, rural mental health, prevention, suicide, crisis intervention, childhood mental health, co-occurring disorders, elderly mental health, veterans, forensic mental health, chronic mental health, a vulnerable population of your choice, etc.
In Unit 3, you identified the issue you wanted to focus on, and in unit 4 you identified prevention approaches. For this unit you will develop a presentation that pulls your work together and provides recommendations of evidence-based practices for the mental health issue you identified.
ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS:
Develop a poster presentation, Prezi, or PowerPoint that includes at a minimum:
Title of mental health issue
A clear research-based definition of the problem
The statistics for this issue in your community or nationally (including references)
A brief discussion of any disparities for this mental health issue (including references and specific examples)
Your recommendations for at least one primary, secondary, or tertiary prevention measure to address this mental health issue with clear examples
Provide at least one traditional intervention to treat or address the issue (with references included)
Recommend at least one innovative or alternative method to treat or address the issue (with references included)
Complete this assignment and submit it to this assignment dropbox by Sunday at 11:59 pm CT.
