Description
Seniority in the WorkplaceKelly has worked for us in Marketing for the last 12 years. Kelly is a good employee but has one of the larger salaries and produces a smaller amount of work than some of her younger counterparts. Additionally, Kelly has five kids and often leaves work early to care for them. Some of our younger employees have more current marketing ideas and are able to work longer hours for a smaller salary. We are considering replacing Kelly with a younger employee.Should newer employees replace more senior employees, regardless of seniority, if they have more time or contemporary ideas for the workplace? PRO: Yes, get rid of Kelly. We will save money and have more ingenuity.
