Background

In the lesson 6 assignment, you will demonstrate your understanding of the four trustworthiness criteria in qualitative research: credibility, dependability, confirmability, and transferability. You will be required to not only demonstrate that you can describe each of the criteria, but also determine the appropriate application of these criteria as prescribed by qualitative research principles. To achieve this, you will develop a comprehensive checklist of the ways to address each of the four criteria to establish the trustworthiness of a potential research study.

Instructions

To develop your checklist, address each of the following two prompts:

Create an overview of trustworthiness. Define trustworthiness, describe why it is important in qualitative research and outline the four criteria of trustworthiness (credibility, dependability, confirmability, and transferability). (1/2 – 1 page)
Describe four to six strategies you can use to address trustworthiness in your proposed study. Align each strategy with one of the criteria. Provide concrete examples of what you will do, why you will do it, and when you would do this. (2 – 3 pages)

Length: This assignment will be 3-4 pages.

References: Include a minimum of 4 scholarly resources.

The completed assignment should address all of the assignment requirements, exhibit evidence of concept knowledge, and demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the content presented in the course. The writing should integrate scholarly resources, reflect academic expectations and current APA standards, and adhere to Northcentral University’s Academic Integrity Policy.
