Description
The reading for this class is not casual. To demonstrate that you have read and engaged with the course readings, a preparatory writing assignment is due each week. This assignment is intended for you to process and articulate your thoughts about the readings so that you can engage in meaningful discussion with colleagues, peers, and others. It is also a way for the instructor to gauge your engagement with the concepts presented. The format is APA.Critical and scholarly discussion of readings does not include your feelings about the author’s writing style (“I like this.”, “This is boring”, etc.) Instead, push yourself to synthesize the main ideas of the readings, identifying how they are ‘in conversation’ with one another. What are the themes across the readings? Where do these ideas converge and diverge? What questions do you have, after unpacking the readings? Finally, please note that annotated reading is your interaction with the text with the purpose of helping you as the reader demonstrate your understanding of what you are reading. It should include highlighting sections and making notes in the margins of the text or you can type your comments if you can not write in the book. The highlights notes in the margin of the chapter should be shared with you taking a picture, a snapshot of how you have interacted with the text. This is an attachment. Keep in mind, this is in addition to your at least 1 full page narrative written in APA format.
