Write an outline of your research paper. Refer to Topic 7 for details regarding the Abnormal Psychology Final Research Paper due at the end of Topic 7.
Your outline should be 500-750 words. Use the attached document, “Outline Template,” to submit.
For this assignment, you will use the approved subject selection from Topic 1.
In this outline, please address the following:
List the approved topic/proposed title
Provide an introduction (including proposed hook, background, purpose, and thesis)
Three subtopics that will support the selected subject:
Provide a comprehensive explanation of the selected subject (e.g., clinical definition, background information).
Address the societal and/or cultural implications of the chosen subject.
Discuss how the subject is related to one or more models of abnormality as discussed in Chapter 3 of the textbook.
Support the subtopics with three to six scholarly articles
Provide a conclusion (including re-statement of thesis)
While APA style is not required for the body of this assignment, solid academic writing is expected, and documentation of sources should be presented using APA formatting guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.

careful not to overlap with the other two subtopics!
2nd Main Point: That Serves to Support Your Thesis: Address the societal and/or cultural

o This might include current or past societal happenings or challenges.
Historical examples would go well here, as it relates to your chosen topic.

o This might include an actual cultural example. How does this topic look
in certain cultures? Does it affect outcome and treatment options? Why?

3rd Main Point that Serves to Support Your Thesis: Discuss how the topic is related to one
or more models of abnormality as discussed in Chapter 3 of the textbook.

o Choose one model of abnormality and be specific in your examples as it
relates to this particular topic.

supports your rationale on your specific topic.
Conclusion: Write out your plan for how you will conclude. Be sure to re-state your thesis as the
first sentence of your conclusion paragraph and summarize what you stated in the intro
paragraph. Do not add or takeaway information, merely wrap up your essay.
