Introduction
The Personal Development Plan (PDP) is a guide that can be applied at any time and area of
your life. It can be applied in your career and employability, study, or personal since this is a tool
that helps you order or clarify your objectives to identify later the skills you have and the ones
you lack; this action will help you to develop what you want to achieve and how you want to
achieve it.
2020 was a challenging year for the world of work, with many people losing their jobs; the
Central Bank estimated that more than 100,000 people in Ireland would have permanently lost
their jobs due to the coronavirus. The most affected areas during that time were the arts and
recreation, hotels, and tourism. Under this issue, it is essential to know the areas that are most
in demand in Ireland and what skills are required for these areas; if you have a solid
understanding of what industry skills are on the rise, you will be much better prepared for

In the following report, I will develop my PDP. This will have a labour focus since I will identify
three areas of work I would be interested in developing my professional career and why these
choices. In addition, I will analyze and search for the skills and qualifications currently in demand
in the labor market.
1. Identification of three suitable roles, with a brief explanation of why you are
interested in these roles
1) Charity management: Companies may have a NGO department since a company is not an
entity that works alone; on the contrary, it is part of a community or system and must be
involved with its environment. The creation of value should not only be for consumers but
should also be shared by society in general. In this sense, if the company behaves well with its
environment, it will acquire an excellent corporate reputation; logically, if it has a good
reputation, it will also have more significant benefits.
Now, I want to work in this area since I want to develop strategies for environmental, ethical,
philanthropic, and economic responsibility. To be successful, companies must include these
elements in addition to helping their reputation. In addition, community work has always been
something that motivates me professionally, and in fact, I have experience in this type of role.
2) Human resources – Legal focus: Companies’ success has excellent employees. If they are
motivated and satisfied with the work they are developing, a business will always be prosperous.
Although I do not have work experience in this area, I would like to gain experience in this role
since, after the first semester of the master’s degree, I have identified that the organizational
culture paradigm is an exciting area. I want to develop it in depth and acquire skills, and this role
gives you that guarantee since objectives must be created and designed to unify a business
vision. I also have some skills for this role, as I am good at analyzing and identifying people’s
strengths and weaknesses.
3) Customer service – Frontline: I want to work in this area to enhance my soft skills since
customer service is an area where you must deal directly with the customer, have good listening
and communication skills, focus on the customer, fulfill their needs, be assertive, kind, warm
and empathetic since customer service is not only answering customers’ questions but also
understanding their needs and meeting them effectively. This process involves various stages
and factors, which would be a great experience and challenge for my personal and professional
development. All the professional roles that interest me are interaction with people; this area is
the most focused on interaction and focused on the client; I would like to learn to listen to
people and provide a timely solution.
