The PPT structure
Inflation and its impact on the
performance of companies in
bank Muscat.
Name: Mohammed Salim almamari.
ID: 19901135.
Introduction:
• A bank is an organization that, in the majority of nations, is licensed
and governed by the government or central bank; it offers financial
services to both customers and companies, including wealth
management and currency exchange. The bank plays a significant role
in the economy’s advancement across the board, notably through its
initiative and involvement in development initiatives that support the
national emirate.
The Rationale of Research:
• Munther Khalfan Abdullah Al-Siyabi, Middle East College, Assistant in the Department
of Administrative Studies, Middle East College, Al-Rusail, Muscat, Oman a summary
These qualitative insights provided perspectives on the Bank’s innovative strategies for
managing economic risks and developing mitigation measures. Using quantitative and
qualitative data, this research has revolutionized the understanding of the dynamics
between economic factors and the financial performance of banks. The findings have
provided a compass for designing policies and formulating innovative strategies that
promote stability and sustainable growth in the dynamic banking industry. By embracing
these findings, stakeholders can remain at the forefront of the banking sector, setting new
standards of excellence and resilience in the face of ever-evolving economic challenges.
Research Questions:
1. How does Bank Muscat’s performance get impacted by inflation?
2. What impact has the COVID-19 pandemic had on Bank Muscat’s inflation rate?
3. Which factors contribute to the rise in inflation at Bank Muscat?
Research Aim and Objectives:
• Research Aim:
• Analyzing how inflation affects Bank Muscat’s performance is the study’s
goal.
• Research Objectives:
• To assess the impact of inflation on the performance of Bank Muscat.
• To look at how the COVID-19 epidemic has affected Bank Muscat’s inflation rate.
• To provide appropriate suggestions and offer solutions regarding inflation.
Literature review:
• According to Ahmed, A. (2018), oil is the primary source of dependence for the Omani economy and is
regarded as a non-renewable resource. 2014 saw a sharp decline in oil prices in Oman. The average rate of
inflation rose to 1.1% in 2013. Inflation is on the rise in 2014, particularly for necessities like gas, electricity,
and oil. This led Ahmed, A. to carry out research to ascertain whether or not the Sultanate of Oman’s inflation
and oil price variations are related.
• According to Ali.M. and Ibrahim.P. (2018), inflation simultaneously affects the economy in a variety of
beneficial and bad ways. Over time, inflation poses a serious threat to the financial system, asset growth, and
stability. Additionally, inflation can raise investment levels, particularly in non-cash assets. The effect of inflation
on the earnings of Malaysian manufacturing firms was covered in this essay. According to Ali.M. and Ibrahim.P.,
entrepreneurs should create measures to safeguard their businesses against inflation, such as identifying inflation
risks, expanding workshops, and providing staff with comprehensive inflation-related training.
• The goal of the study, according to Al Zadjali, M. and Al Rahbi, A. (2018), is to look into Oman’s high-inflation
goods and services as well as the degree of inflation in each. When compared to 2016, the Sultanate of Oman
saw a high rate of inflation in 2017, which reached 1.7%. The main categories that had price increases of up to
1.52%, including gas, housing, electricity, and water, were the cause of the increase in inflation.
• The purpose of this study, according to Ilter, C. (2012), is to investigate how inflation affects financial statements.
Because inflation is an external force that businesses cannot control, Ilter discovered that even at low rates, it had a
detrimental impact on financial statements. The International Accounting Standards Board 29 decided in the 1980s to
restate the financial statements to reflect the effects of inflation. The issue of declining oil prices emerged even though
IASB has revised the financial statements. The drop in oil prices therefore had a negative impact on the financial
statement’s change. As a result, businesses must assess the effects of inflation over time and implement the appropriate
countermeasures.
• As per Al Nasser.O and Jackson.D. (2015), the purpose of this study is to investigate the connections
between the growth of the banking sector, inflation in Latin America, and stock performance in the financial
sector. Al Nasser, O. and Jackson, D. discovered a negative correlation between Latin American inflation
and the performance of the banking industry. This implies that a greater rate of inflation causes the financial
sector to do less well and vice versa. As a result, economic stability should be maintained in Latin American
nations.
Variables for the study:
• The level of national debt has an impact on inflation; as a country’s
debt grows, so does inflation.
• Increased inflation is the result of rising production component costs,
which also raise the price of finished goods.
• Strong demand without even a rise in supply results in price increases
and an increase in the inflation rate.
