Description
I believe that everyone, regardless of their economic status, should be able to receive the same quality healthcare. Healthcare is a human right. No matter what background you come from, how much money you have, or how sick you are, healthcare should be assessable and covered for everyone. Canada already has implemented free healthcare for its citizens since 1966 when they passed the Medicare Care Act. Sure, there will be cons to this such as long wait times and appointment availability, but I believe the pros outweigh the cons by far. I have personally had diabetic patients admit that they don’t have any money left to pay for their insulin coverage and leave the hospital worried about their health. Patients don’t ask to be sick and although some diseases can be prevented, many are non preventable and are based on genetics, environmental factors or just bad luck. The question of having enough money every month to buy your insulin that is needed for you to survive should not be a question you should have to ask yourself. Healthcare is not a privilege; it is a right that every human should have.
