A scholar must be able to make claims and support those ideas with evidence. Paraphrasing the work of others to support original ideas is a skill developed with practice.

For this assignment, you will use the ACE Library to find a scholarly article relevant to the topic you wrote about in Module 1. You will then write a 2- to 3-page summary of that article using paraphrasing techniques and APA citations. Finally, you will use Turnitin to examine your writing and reflect on the findings.

Note: For this assignment, there are two submissions. You will submit the summary the first time to get your Turnitin (TII) similarity report, note the % above 20%, adjust your score if is higher than 20%, complete Step 6, and then submit the summary a second time. Only the second submission will be graded.

Step 1. Locate
Using the ACE LibraryLinks to an external site. resources, find a published article on your topic identified in Module 1. Be sure the article is from a peer-reviewed scholarly source.

Step 2. Read
Read the source and take notes.

Step 3. Paraphrase
Write a summary of the article using paraphrasing skills and adding APA citations where appropriate.

Step 4. Edit
Review your work. Examine your paragraphs to be sure they have the MEAL components. Check your citations.

Step 5. Detect
Generate a Turnitin similarity report. Note the % similarity score. Revise your paper until your score is below 20%.

(Note: To access your similarity report, submit your paper to the assignment area. Then, on the right side of the page, click “submission details.” Click on the similarity percentage to open the similarity report within Canvas.)

Step 6. Reflect
Write a one-paragraph reflection to conclude your paper. Comment on the use of TII and how you used it to improve your paper.

Step 7. Submit
Submit an APA-formatted title page, 2- to 3-page paper, and a reference page.
