In this assessment, you will research a cost control policy that is in effect at your organization or one that you research. In doing so, you will detail the impact this policy has on the organization, its unintended consequences, and a possible alternative.

All healthcare organizations must be aware of cost controls, regardless of nonprofit or for-profit status. Managing costs at all levels of the organization affects the bottom line, which has a direct effect on all aspects of the organization. This assessment is designed to help you analyze why organizational policies are put in place. In addition, it will help you understand the role of operations in a healthcare setting, which is to ensure a high quality of care is maintained across all departments.

Find a policy at a healthcare organization related to cost controls. Include the following in your paper/presentation.

NOTE: I am a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) I work in an Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit within the hospital. I have uploaded my hospital policy on Urinary Catheterization; maybe we can relate to the cost of Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection( CAUTI) in the hospital. SEE ATTACHMENT

FROM INSTRUCTOR: This assignment asks you to look at a cost control policy, discussing details of the policy, the impact it has on both finances and quality of care, the unintended consequences of not following the policy, and alternatives to this policy. Be sure to include all required topics for full credit. Please use the grading rubric as a guide and use level one headings to provide logical flow. Just to clarify and alleviate some stress, this assignment does not have to be a financial policy at your place of employment. It should be a policy that impacts health care costs and quality of care. Some examples could be policies as simple as handwashing or PICC line care. These things help to prevent infection which has a huge impact on health care costs, while also impacting quality care. I don’t want you to stress about finding a financial policy at your organization, as that is not what this is about. Just be sure to include all of the required topics and use APA format.
