Description
Statistics Assignment
Indicate whether you agree or disagree with the Conclusion section and explain the rationale for your response.
Introduction:
This study assessed the effectiveness of a humor intervention program on the participants’ stress levels, behavior problems, anxiety, and resilience for school-aged children with chronic diseases. The experimental group, which received the intervention, included 17 children with diabetes. The control group, which did not receive the intervention, included 16 children with diabetes.
Data Analysis
T-tests were used to compare differences in stress levels, behavior profiles, anxiety and resilience between the experimental and control groups. The level of statistical significance was set at p ≤ 0.05. Differences in stress hormone levels before and after the intervention were compared (t = 5.405, p = 0.03). The behavior profile scores before and after the intervention were compared (t = 3.072, p = 0.01). Anxiety scores were compared (t = 0.059, p = 0.50). The resilience scores were compared (t = 0.099, p = 0.43).
Conclusion
These study results indicate that the humor intervention resulted in differences in stress levels, behavior profiles, and resilience between the two groups differences. The humor intervention prompted the strongest differences in children’s stress and behavior. Weaker differences were noted between the two groups’ anxiety and resilience.
