This week I learned multiple factors contribute to an increased risk of poor health outcomes globally. Poverty is a big factor. These patients lack access to proper healthcare services. They have poor access to healthy foods which increases the risk for health issues, they have poor living conditions that place patients’ exposure to unsafe water higher, and poor education to include preventative measures and treatments. Poverty places patients at an increased risk for poor health. On a global scale promoting health equity is essential for improving healthcare outcomes.
