In the learning activity titled “Distinction Between Coaching and Managing,” you read components of the dissertation titled Manager as Coach: An Exploratory Study into the Experience of Managers Dealing with Team Challenge. Early on in the text, it is noted that “Multiple employers from all sectors are placing line-managers at the forefront of delivery and facilitating the expected outputs from individuals and teams within their organizations. This accumulation of elements has led organizational leaders to seek better ways of supporting front-line managers with a common preference towards training in coaching skills” (Smith, 2019, p. 15).
