RE: DQ 2, Brand Positioning: Participation Post
Hey Elizabeth & Class:
Elizabeth: Thanks for the Stanley water bottle update. I have an old SubZero; but my wife gets several of Stanleys. I don’t understand paying over $15 for a water bottle, but while the market is paying that, Stanley will no doubt keep pushing them.
Class:
Here in our Brand Positioning discussion, we need to remember the differences in the many Ps in Marketing:
* the 4 Ps: Price, Product, Place, Promotion
* Some marketing Texts add other Ps: People, Proof of concept, Processes, Physical evidence, more.
Then we have:
* Positioning: noting product benefits that stick in the mind of the consumer.
* (Ad) Placement: Our new-product ad was in bottom banner location on all the website pages. … was the centerspread in the latest trade journal.
* Product Placement: Actual product on TV show or movies.
So key words for positioning: in the mind. Question:
When you need a package delivered overnight, what brand is positioned in your mind?
Thanks for reading,
