The aim of this assessment is to be able to critically evaluate a destination’s MICE offer and
provide competitive advantage and solutions.
Instructions:
Choose a destination (except Singapore), explore and analyse its Meetings, Incentives,
Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) events offer, convention bureau (or destination marketing
organisation/national tourist office if there is no convention bureau) and its role. Write an essay
on the chosen destination with a critical analysis and evaluation of its MICE offer. All sources
must be cited in-text and endtext, in APA 7th edition referencing style.
Your essay should consider the areas given below:
⚫ Portfolio of events delivered – the MICE offering (product)
⚫ Clients of the organisation – user categories and specific examples
⚫ Stakeholders of the organisation
⚫ Competitors – at destination level or other organisations
⚫ Awards or accolades achieved – past 5 years only, destination and/or convention
bureau.
⚫ Local, national and international profile – destination and convention bureau
⚫ Recommendations or solutions – include the current challenges for the MICE industry
