How helpful was this class in preparing evidence of what you accomplished in this program? How will what you learned improve your professional growth?

Good evening class,

This class definitely had its challenges, but in the end, I was able to produce an e-portfolio that I am proud of. My portfolio is a well-rounded, diverse representation of what I have accomplished while in this program. This class allowed me to reflect on what papers I believe are the most impactful and relate to my centralized theme of project management. Additionally, this class ensured I added supporting evidence to better enhance each paper. By adding three additional resources to each artifact, I was able to enhance the artifact significantly. Prior to this class, I was unfamiliar with the purpose of an e-portfolio, and now I find myself submitting one for my chemical engineering grad school applications. I can use what I learned in this class to improve my professional growth by consistently editing and changing out what I have in my e-portfolio. I can also tailor it to highlight specific skills for the job I am applying for. I learned the importance of not only saving my work for all my courses taken at AMU, but also saving it in an organized manner. If it was not for proper archiving, I would be at a loss for this class. Did anyone run into issues not having saved their work from other classes taken prior to Capstone? If so, what did you do? It has been great working and discussing with everyone this course; I look forward to reviewing some e-portfolios. Happy holidays to all.

Very Respectfully,

Hanna Hobbs

Class,

This class was very helpful for me to understand how to better prepare for what “real world” recruiters would enjoy seeing. As a Marine, a portfolio is not a thing that is required of us to create and maintain. This is odd to me because many Marines are challenged to read books and write reports on them to set themselves apart from their peers on performance boards. If the Marine Corps developed a similar system, it would be a great opportunity for the young Marines to begin collecting the papers they write throughout their time in the military to leverage as their own artifacts that might help with their post service job hunting. I have also written multiple formal papers for the Marine Corps that I wish I still had. Over the years of getting new computers (and before the cloud was something I thought of getting for this reason exactly) those papers were lost. If we had a structure like the eportfolio, I could have been storing all of these papers that I could have referenced and leveraged throughout all of my follow on advanced military schooling opportunities. What this class has allowed me to do is also review some papers that I thought were ready to come off the shelf and present to someone, only to realize that they all needed another round of reviews. Even by reviewing these, I have also found some current topics that I could add to some arguments within my artifacts that would enhance each one to be even better. So, at the end of the day, Ive learned that I must constantly review my products because they are not as perfect as I thought they were when I submitted them a year ago!
