MGMT301 – Leading Change and Innovation
Semester 1, 2024
Literature Review (Individual Assessment)
Due: Friday, March 22 (5pm)
Worth: 30%
Word count: 2000 words (excluding references and appendixes)
Your assignment requires you to conduct a literature review that is based on the challenge that your
group decides to work on set by the company. Based on the content (readings, lecture materials, and
the case study) from weeks 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, choose a topic of your literature review based on the
challenge that your group decides to work on. The literature review and the reviewed articles must
draw on and be linked to change management concepts.
The literature review’s content must include the following sections and be structured
accordingly:
Your literature review should contain at least the following sections as outlined below. You are
welcome to include additional sections and headings but as a minimum your report should include
the following sections:
1. Title page – A professionally presented title page containing your personal details and the title of
your paper. The title of the paper should reflect the topic you have chosen to focus on.
2. Introduction – You should write a brief introduction to your literature review detailing what the
reader can expect to find in the literature review. You also should explain the topic covered in the
literature review based on the case study from.
3. Literature review – There are 2 parts to the literature review section of the assignment.
1. Please use AI to develop a literature review on one of the topics from ZURU and Southern
Stations Wagyu (SSW) case studies, that your group decides to work on.
2. Critique the generated by AI review based on the literature that you have found. You need to
have at least 10 academic articles and any other required resources to support your
justifications for or against AI generated material.
Identify 10 academic articles from peer-reviewed journals on your chosen topic. An academic
article is one which has been published in a quality assured, peer reviewed academic journal. Your
literature review must address the following questions: Which academic journals you used? What is
the purpose of the research reported in the articles? Where was the research carried out (country)?
What methodology was used: qualitative, quantitative or mixed method? How did you analyse the
articles?
Literature review needs to be critical. Based on at least 10 articles, present the key findings from
the literature. Furthermore, identify key themes that have emerged from the 10 articles reviewed.
Please also explain what the links are between these themes. Identify and explain what gaps exist in
the literature. The gaps in the literature should provide you with clear picture of what is missing in
the research on the chosen topic. Explain why filling these gaps is important.
Link the literature review to the case study and critically examine whether what the literature says is
in line with or different from the challenge that your group is working on.

Semester 1, 2024
5. Conclusion – You should provide a comprehensive conclusion to your literature review wherein
you provide a solid summary of your literature review and present key lessons learned from your
literature review in relation to your topic.
6. References section – The reference list must conform to the APA referencing style.
Holding of Copies of Assignments
For quality assurance purposes the School is required to hold on record a number of
assignments/tests as examples of differing standards of work for up to five years. All work will
be held in an electronic form on a secure server and will be anonymised. If you have any
objections to the School holding your assignment/test for this purpose then email the course
coordinator to ensure your work is not used.
University Assessment Policy
The University of Canterbury considers cheating and plagiarism to be serious acts of dishonesty.
This assessment must be your own individual work. You must not copy the work of another
person (e.g. student, internet or published work). Any person, who is found to have copied
someone else’s work – in part or in full – or to have allowed their work to be copied, will receive
a fail grade for this full assessment and may face further disciplinary action.

STATEMENT REGARDING DISHONEST PRACTICE
(in connection with work submitted for assessment)
The University’s interpretation of what constitutes dishonest practice includes the
following:
1. Plagiarism, being the presentation of any material (text, data or figures, on any
medium including computer files) from any other source without clear and proper
acknowledgement of the source of that material.
2. Collusion*, being work performed in whole or in part in conjunction with another
person or persons, but submitted as if it had been completed by the named author alone
(or joint authors if a group item of work).
3. Copying, being the use of material (in any medium, including computer files)
produced by another person or persons, with or without their knowledge and approval.
4. Ghost writing, being the use of another party (with or without any form of
payment) to prepare all or part of an item of work submitted for assessment.
Under the University Regulations, evidence of any of these or other forms of dishonest
practice by any student(s) represents grounds for disciplinary action and may result in
penalties ranging from denial of credit for the item of work in question to exclusion from
the University.
*This interpretation of the dishonest practice of collusion is not intended to discourage
students from having discussions with each other about how to approach a particular
assigned task, and incorporating general ideas coming out of such discussions into their
own individual submissions.
DECLARATION: I have read and fully understand the statement regarding Dishonest
Practice and hereby certify that this item of work submitted for assessment is entirely my
