Description
The purpose of this assignment is to propose an action plan and not summarize an event or news item. It is not enough to retell what has already been reported. You are required to connect course related readings, text principles, and class discussions to develop an action plan for the crisis situation or issue which you select.
Your report should explain what is or has happened, why things are happening or happened, what solutions can remedy or resolve the crisis now, and areas for future prevention of a similar situation. Additional guidelines in the form of thought questions for developing your paper will be provided by the professor. The paper must include information sourced from a minimum of two (2) scholarly sources and two (2) trade publications. The final product is a five (5) page Word document, double spaced in MLA format with an annotated bibliography. Be prepared to present a 3-5 minute verbal overview/summary of your action plan report and to answer questions from the class
In a 1-2 page response, discuss either A or B.
Frederick Douglass
In an 1847 speech to a British audience, Douglass said that he planned to go back to America “for the sake of his brethren.” Dedication to a higher cause, at great personal risk, is one of the attributes that tie all five leaders together. What was at stake for Douglass in returning to America?
Douglass and Lincoln are the only two leaders in the book who lived at the same time, met each other, and whose struggles coalesced around the same larger battle. How did each come to his commitment to the abolitionist cause? How did their different personal histories shape their commitment?
