Description
The exam is 4 essay-like questions. Each response should be a minimum of 500 words and a max of 1000 words. You can prepare in advance since the four (4) questions are posted all semester.
WEEK 7 Tea Room: While you must use the Tea Room to discuss them, you will have to submit your unique answers through Turnitin.
I will accept 0 to 3% unoriginality. Do not use the book or copy from the Tea Room write everything in your own words.
Question 1: The Japanese heavily borrowed from the continent (China and Korea) please list these borrowings and explain how they were adapted to suit Japanese culture (art: poetry, theater, architecture), society, philosophy, religion, government, and economy. Provide one example for each time period, and explain in-depth one of them.
Question 2: The status and power of women in Japan varied from one period to the next. Please explain for each time period how status and power varied. Evaluate the marriage politics of each period. Further, evaluate in detail, the life, status, and power of one woman (any time period).
Question 3: Native beliefs and Buddhism throughout Japanese history have influenced and were influenced by politics. This interaction resulted in new branches and collaboration with or fighting against elites (court and military) provide a detailed account. BONUS: explain one of the Buddhist sects in detail (founder, origins, the main temple, beliefs, practices, growth, and way of securing sponsorship).
Question 4: a) Make a timeline (in accordance with our textbook), b) Annotate it by placing the different heads of power (add names and dates), c) Explain what each of them did for the consolidation of the country, d) list the important events that marked their reigns, BONUS: Provide a detailed account of your favorite one (woman or man).
