Description

Hello class,It is quite clear that in the last decade we are still in the rapid ascension of internet-connected devices. We are creatures of instant gratification an the more devices we can connect for instantly-generated information… the better. At least in the eyes of the consumer, anyways. For those who often see the foreshadow of threats to this mindset, for every general increase in scale of the internet of things (IoT) is a decline in cyber hygiene. As mentioned previously, and as costly as it may be, next-generation firewalls (NGFW) are a futuristic solution. Artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) are the appropriate supplement to this solution as it adds a truly dynamic and capable cybersecurity apparatus to the aforementioned growing threat.Governance, risk and compliance (GSC) are certainly things to consider. When it comes to how these cybersecurity solutions are employed, execution is key. Governance is the forward-most variable as it will “govern” the policies determined by what some could consider as an automated cybersecurity solution. Automation is not a solution where policies that differ in other countries are not universal in nature. Risk is the next layer of this issue where you need to ensure a “smart” system can allow more than it denies… depending on how it was designed in the first place. Compliance is what can make or break a smart system, as it needs to be able to operate within optimal performance standards. This can cross hardware and software requirements, and so careful attention to detail is required. With GRC, this will require a team of capable and qualified individuals to determine the best and cost-effective method of deploying an efficient cybersecurity solution.Harold
