This assessment is a progressive assignment, intended to provide an opportunity to demonstrate your understanding of war, its fundamental character, its root causes, its execution, and its results. Based on this understanding you will analyze a war of your choice from the fundamental conflict(s) that produced it, and end by providing an alternative outcome to the conflict short of war. The simulated, alternative response will demonstrate greater value for the decision-maker(s) and for the societies involved. It will demonstrate how the alternative response developed could be relevant in resolving a similar circumstance of war reflecting a contemporary international conflict.Deliverable for Part 1 (Due end of Week 2):Select a war from the past century (any war from the 20th century would do. You can also choose non-conventional conflicts between states and non-state actors, if you so desire).Identify the political entities involved, the decision makers, and describe the primary cause of conflict.The paper should be no more nor less than 3 pages, double spaced in font size 12, Chicago Style. (This first installment constitutes 20 percent of the total Authentic Assessment value).
