Part 1: Pre-watching

Prior to watching the episodes for the week, please answer the following questions:

What information from this week were you already familiar with? Where did you encounter this information previously?
What are 2 questions you have about the content for this week based on the topic and list of the assigned episodes.

Part 2: Watching

You need a separate part 2 for every assigned episode. Please provide the following:

Title of the show, name of the episode, name of the director, year of release
A brief summary of the episode (4-6 sentences)
3 themes that stood out to you. In 1-2 sentences, describe each idea.

Part 3: Reflection and Making Connections

After watching the lecture and episodes for the week, answer the following:

Revisit the information you were already familiar with before reading the chapter and watching the videos. How well did that information hold up? What do you think differently about that information now? What is the same?
What questions do you have about information from this week?
Look at all the episodes you watched at think about them together. Do they present the same arguments and information? How? How are they different from one another? (3-4 sentences)
Connect the episodes from this week to the lecture material from this week. (Your answer should be at least 4-5 sentences in length.)

Discussion

Each week you will watch a lecture, then watch several episodes that are directly related to the content of that lecture. Your journals are where you will unpack both of those things. Discussions are where you will bring your best analytical game and add one more variable to the mix. After viewing the lecture and assigned episodes, find another episode from a show (not already assigned for this class) that also relates to the material from the week. It can be from any time period, genre, or production source. any time period. Please be specific and precise.

Once you have selected a show, provide a clip (under 2 minutes, you can just record your tv with a phone) that demonstrates the connection you are trying to make.

In addition to the clip, provide the following information:

What show is it, where was it created, which network distributed it, what year was this episode created and what dates did the show run, who was the creator?
How is this clip related to the week’s content?
How does the context (when and how it was made) of your show create a different or similar argument than the assigned shows for the week?
How specifically does this surpass the limits of time and technology?
