Project Details:
Bayader Al-Watania Company is a 15-year-old food and canned goods manufacturing company with
approximately 400 employees. Around 35% of the employees are women. The company consists of four
main departments: Production and Development, Marketing, Human Resources, and Finance, each
headed by a manager.
In the past two years, the company has faced a major problem where most employees do not stay in
their positions for more than two months. There is a lack of commitment to daily attendance, and over
40% of the employees have had their salaries deducted due to delays. Furthermore, there is still a lack
of consistency in the company’s operations.
Mr. Haitham leads the Sales and Marketing department, holding a master’s degree in management from
the United States. Mouath is the newest employee in the company, with less than a year of experience
in marketing and sales. His colleagues see him as highly enthusiastic and possessing excellent
communication skills. However, he lacks sufficient knowledge about the company’s products. Mouath’s
goal is to increase the company’s annual sales by 15%. However, the sales in the first quarter of the year
indicate a growth rate of less than 1%, despite a 50% increase in the number of sales representatives.
Additionally, Mouath has faced managerial problems and conflicts among his department employees.
Sales employees have expressed concerns about his limited knowledge of the food industry, and he
often appears confused during discussions about new products. He struggles to effectively describe the
company’s capabilities to external clients, indicating a lack of complete understanding of how a food
manufacturing company operates.
Ms. Sahar is the company’s Financial Manager, working in the company for two years in the position of
Financial Manager. She previously worked as an accountant for five years and as the manager’s
secretary for another five years. Her objective is to reduce costs by 25%, especially in the areas of
salaries and bonuses. Since she took over the financial department, no employee has received bonuses
or raises. Sahar has been promoted within the company due to her hard work and loyalty, according to
what employees say to the company owner.
Salem Al-Mahmoud heads the Human Resources department, which was established six months ago. He
holds a degree in Human Resources Management and has six years of experience in HR management in
Saudi Arabia. Other managers view his positive relationship with the General Manager as temporary and
believe that he will not be able to implement theoretical concepts about employee engagement and
improving their morale. Moreover, his suggestions from a financial management perspective worsen the
situation rather than improving the employees’ reality, as they increase costs.
There has been a clear conflict recently between the Financial Manager (Sahar) and Salem Mahmoud.
The General Manager’s illness has exacerbated the situation. Most female employees have complained
about Sahar’s management style regarding financial aspects.
