You have read about the principle of reflexivity in your readings from Weeks 1 and 2. Ongoing engagement in the practice of reflexivity is a cornerstone of qualitative research.
The principle of reflexivity involves recognizing and analyzing the researcher’s values, beliefs, preconceptions, motivations, experiences, and qualifications as a fundamental part of the research process
“A researcher’s background and position will affect what they choose to investigate, the angle of investigation, the methods judged most adequate, the findings considered most appropriate, and the framing and communication of conclusions… Dependent on their positions and perspectives, different researchers might therefore access different, although equally valid, representations of the situation that is studied.” (Malterud)
Reflect on the assigned papers by Jootun et al, 2009 and Malterud 2001. With your specific research question in mind, compose a Reflexivity statement.
