Hamlet Radio
Choose one of the radio plays of Hamlet linked above. Listen to at least 40 minutes from somewhere in the play. Feel free to listen to the whole thing! It’s a great way to experience the play. If you choose, you can substitute an audiobook for a radio play, but you would have to find this yourself. If you are choosing an audiobook, contact me to make sure that your choice is a viable one for this assignment. In a written response of at least 500 words, offer your thoughts on some of the decisions made in the radio play / audiobook. Please tell us which section of the play you have listened to and are discussing. As you discuss the radio play, you might pay special attention to the aural medium and elements of sound design or reflect on what difference it makes to listen to a play. As always, the point here is not to offer a thumbs-up or thumbs-down evaluation but to think about some of the interpretive decisions that writers, directors, actors, and others involved in the production have made to bring the text of Hamlet to life.
