Description
Goal: Create a concise action plan with two strategies for addressing an equity issue
relevant to CLD learners.
Topics/Issues: Select an issue from a specific area of focus. Some examples include:
● Specific instructional model(s) or program(s)
● Specific second language teaching approach and method
● Assessment (including types, frequency, etc.)
● Changing or editing a specific language and education policy
● Labeling students learning the English language
● Teacher professional development or education on a specific issue
● Teaching reading, listening, speaking, and writing on a specific issue
● Teaching with technology or building digital literacy on a specific issue
● Classroom structure/design, management
● Translanguaging, biliteracy, dual-language programs
● Parent/guardian engagement, research, community programs
● Other topics you identify
Paper Guidelines:
● Your paper must reflect graduate-level academic writing.
● Follow APA 7th Edition guidelines for formatting, including double-spacing, Times
New Roman, 12-pt font, title page, in-text citations, and References.
● Limit your paper to 5 pages (excluding the title and references pages).

Section I: Title page (APA 7 format)

Introduce the equity issue you’ve chosen within a specific area of focus.
Provide a rationale for selecting this issue, highlighting its relevance.
Reference evidence that establishes the issue’s importance in improving CLD students’ teaching and learning experiences.C. Section III: Research Related to the Issue (2.0 – page)
Discuss the selected issue’s history, research background, and policy
implications.
Examine scholarly sources that address the issue’s impact on CLD
learners–no less than 5 scholarly sources (no websites, blogs, Wikipedia,
etc.). The sources should not be older than 10 years.
Analyze how the issue aligns with the focus area and identify gaps in current
approaches.
Highlight research that supports the need for change in this area.
Do not use quotes directly from sources unless absolutely necessary (e.g., a
specific definition); synthesize and paraphrase instead.

Section IV: Possible Interventions & Brief Action Plan (2.0 – pages)
Propose two (2) strategies to address the identified equity issue.
Connect each strategy to the issue focus area and explain how they can
enhance CLD teaching and learning.
Use scholarly research to support your proposed interventions’ feasibility and
potential impact.
SectionV:Conclusion(0.5-pages)
Reiterate key points from your analysis of the issue and your proposed
interventions.
Reflect and explain your insights and understanding gained through this
exploration.
Consider and include the broader implications of your proposed strategies for
CLD education.
Emphasize the significance of addressing the issue of improving the
educational experiences of CLD learners.
Section VI: References
List all sources utilized to complete the assignment.
Follow APA 7 format.
Additional Components: Ensure accuracy, clarity, and coherence in your writing.
