Background information:
The supply chain profession entered the year leading the digitalization of ecosystems, delivering the
customer experience, managing trade uncertainty, and applying circular economy concepts.
Digital technologies have deeply changed the way societies exchange information and interact with
each other Technological novelties have altered how people communicate and share information.
Technology has driven enterprises to the next level by helping in many ways starting from automating
repetitive activities, eliminating errors, and last but not least to help in decision making. The use of
technology will surely bring down the challenges and issues, related to customer expectations,
managing their suppliers, maintaining the quality standards, and access to supply chain data faced by
Supply Chain leaders year-on-year.
The evolution of SCM is being driven by new information technologies, including Big Data, cloud
computing, the Internet of Things (IoT), radio frequency identification (RFID), 3-D printing, robotics,
global digital networks, artificial intelligence, and augmented reality. Global supply chain flows will
become increasingly digital and integrated, and end-to-end data will be driven in real-time,
exponentially increasing upstream information flows.” This new paradigm calls for a new
management culture. We call this management culture “Supply Chain Management 4.0.”
This novel technology will affect the logistics, supply chains, manufacturing, and transportation
industries. Therefore, the future of every industry will be open to innovation and technology. Every
industry is going through a rapid transformation that appeared with the fourth industrial revolution.

The organization we will study in this report is called Saudi Aramco. Therefore, the
findings of this report are based on this organization. With this in mind, the following are the
findings:
Looking into 2024 and beyond, Saudi Aramco will have to keep a close eye on the
dramatic and rapid changes that are taking place. To begin with, the business must ensure that
it has diversified strategic partnerships and new products to mitigate the risks that may come
from changing customer preferences. Additionally, the business will have to leverage new
technologies such as the IoT (the Internet of Things). This would help Saudi Aramco to keep
track of its products as they move along the supply chain to reach their destinations.
Furthermore, using modern technological tools will allow the business to quickly identify

bottlenecks in the entire supply chain and schedule maintenance works before any further
disruptions can occur. Therefore, in 2024 and beyond, Saudi Aramco’s supply chain will
have to keep a close eye on factors such as technology and changes in the global oil demand
to ensure that it creates a sustainable and efficient supply chain.

Modern technologies such as blockchain and AI play an important role in the leanness
of E-procurement processes for an organization like Saudi Aramco. Artificial Intelligence has
a vital role to play in decision-making because it can be used to quickly analyze both
historical and current data and then procurement decisions can be made. With this
technology, Saudi Aramco can make data-driven E-procurement decisions such as supplier
selection as well as demand forecasts for its products.
On the other hand, blockchain technologies can be used by Saudi Aramco to improve
security and transparency. By doing this, the business can reduce risks stemming from
fraudulent activities. Saudi Aramco can further improve its ability to trace the products sent
through its supply chains. This can ensure that E-procurement processes are efficient by
tracing all transactions and sources of those transactions making it a crucial aspect of Saudi
Aramco’s overall procurement process. Therefore, these are the roles and impacts of the
aforementioned technologies.

To be specific, supply chain managers at Saudi Aramco will have a set of unique supply
chain challenges because of the organization’s products as well as the location of the business.
For example, the geopolitical situation in the Middle East has caused disruptions in the
delivery of Saudi Aramco’s products. The organization will have to be very strategic in the

way it handles the delivery of its products. Additionally, the business landscape is changing
rapidly and the oil demand is changing with the shift to solar and electric-powered machines.
The supply chain managers at Saudi Aramco will have to make data-driven responses based

there are concerns regarding the impact of the business on the environments it operates in and
this has resulted in several regulations in different regions of the world. This is another
challenge that the supply chain managers at Saudi Aramco are facing and will continue to
face in 2024 and beyond.

bids. For an organization like Saudi Aramco, this is an amazing opportunity to interact with
suitable partners and suppliers. With the use of information technologies, E-Auction
platforms are becoming more capable of achieving complex tasks. For example, the platforms
are now able to provide analytics and supplier ratings so that users can make informed
decisions. With the use of AI through information and communication technologies, EAuction platforms can be utilized by Saudi Aramco to better manage the contracting process
as well as build strong business relationships with its suppliers. Therefore, information and
communications technology significantly supports E-Auction platforms in many ways, from
network support to graphics, secure payment gateways, and process optimization. ICT makes
all this possible and ensures that users of such platforms have an enjoyable experience. This
further makes the platforms more reliable, secure, and trusted by industry leaders such as
Saudi Aramco. (Yang, 2021) Explains that the adoption of digital technologies in supply
chains has become common due to their impact on the overall business operations.

organization solve complex problems and gain a competitive advantage. Furthermore, Saudi
Aramco should invest in risk management strategies that would help the business identify and
mitigate risks on time. (Samimi, 2020) Explains that effective risk management will allow the
business to quickly identify and overcome the risks.
