Description
DRP 802 – Task 2 Instructions.
Although the terms conceptual and theoretical frameworks have been used interchangeably at times they do refer to two different things. A theoretical framework is a study based on an existing theory or theories where as a conceptual framework is something the author develops based on the theory. It provides a roadmap of the world a researcher intends to study. It captures what researchers see and how they make sense of what they are exploring.
After conducting your own outside research, and considering the two different types of frameworks:
1. Identify the appropriate framework (conceptual or theoretical) that align with your problem statement and provide a rationale for the selection.
2. Explain why the selected framework is important and how it can guide research.
3. Provide your framework diagram, explain its component parts, how they interact to explain the research problem. The research framework diagram should allow the reader to ‘see’ the problem and its outcomes. The diagram should show
1) the inputs (constructs or variables) and how they relate to the actors,
2) how action/information/influence flows between the actors,
3) how the actors are influenced by concepts and theories, and
4) how the outputs (constructs) are determined.
(See examples provided under the supporting material section in the course).
Once a person reads the framework and examines the diagram it should be very clear what the conditions surrounding the problem are as well as how the study is connected to the literature. (Minimum of three pages)
