please respond to the following discussion post as a peer. Hello,According to Slusser et al., (2019, pp 80), at its most basic, ethics is the study of right and wrong. A code of ethics is more set of principles and/or expected behavior. Bioethics is the “identification, analysis, and resolution of ethical problems, issues, and dilemmas associated with the biological sciences, especially medicine, healthcare practice, and research” (Scott, 2009, p. 30). There are many similarities between ethics and bioethics and both are concerns surrounding the mortality of a human’s action(s) and seeks to promote both good and bad behavior. Both ethic and bioethics rely on reasons and have justification to support their claims. Ethics is primarily concerned with an individual’s mortality of their human actions while bioethics takes into account social implications of the action. The field of bioethics explores the ethical issues arising due to these advances in research and encompasses social, judicial, and environmental aspects affecting human beings (Mandal et al., 2017). For example, an ethical question might be whether or not it is feasible to lie in general. A bioethical question in turn can be whether or not to lie to a patient regarding their diagnoses regardless if they are a family member or not. These two questions are similar in which they both revolve around mortality of lying. However, they are very different from one another because in the bioethical question is specially examines the implication of lying to a patient regarding their diagnosis if not properly treated. When we think of bioethics, we must include medical ethics because they focus on issues that take place in health care. In conclusion, applied ethics involves the analysis of a specific controversial moral issue i.e., holding vital information from a patient regarding their tests, abortion, animal rights, etc. Bioethics is the field that is within the applies ethics that focuses on the ethical issue that ultimately relates to the biology and biological systems. Both institutions and universities should be more aware of and consider the standard internationally approved guidelines that are in constitution of the Clinical Ethics Committees and in the implementation of the principles of bioethics.
