What happens when homeostasis can not be restored?
A homeostatic imbalance may occur due to changes in the external or internal environment. An organism maintains a relatively stable internal condition despite changes in the external environment. If the homeostatic imbalance is moderate a disorder or disease may occur, but if the imbalance is severe death may result if the imbalance is not rectified. An example would be influenza if the body is exposed to the virus and cannot fight it off the virus can affect several parts of the body such as the lungs, which can lead to respiratory failure and even death.
