Please follow this link to an interview with Hanif Kureishi,Links to an external site. author of several texts about the experience of post-colonial Britain and the West as experienced by people from the colonies who moved to Europe and the US following third world liberation movements in the Cold War, re-emergence of the conservative right (from thatcher to neo-nazis), and consumerism. Then write an original post about what you thought was interesting, what do you want to find out more on, and how what you have learned this semester helped you to understand some of what he was talking about from a personal perspective. Finally, reflect on how some if any of what he says is familiar to you in the west of 2021.
Kureishi’s most familiar works are My Beautiful Laundrette & the Buddha of Suburbia (both have also been made into films).
