Competition
On scrutinizing the large picture of institutions involved in the fight against gender-based
violence, it emerges that a colorful variety of initiatives and approaches arise (wolf, 2014). Every
entity make its unique input towards the institutional effort of ensuring the safety and
empowerment of women. Some organizations concentrate on the grassroots initiatives, very close
to the local communities, to address certain challenges and raise awareness. The others, in a wider
context, call for the policy changes and structural shifts to address the problem holistically.
An important aspect of the competing environment is the array of strategies taken in
involving men and boys in the conversation on the violence against women. Some institutions
focus on educational programs at school level, acting to the youth in the early stages of life to
impart the value of respect and gender equality. On the contrary, other ones put more emphasis on
community-oriented initiatives, implementing projects through collaborating with local
authorities. A wide variety of methods observed in the competitive space highlights the complexity
of the issue and the need for comprehensive remedies.
Within such organizations, the strengths usually lie in their ability to mobilize resources,
and manage influential partnerships. The successful initiatives often constitute partnerships with
governmental organizations, NGOs and corporations that expose the recognition of the
interconnectedness which is bound to tackle such comprehensive problem. Differently,
weaknesses could be seen in lack of outreach as some organizations find it hard to reach the
marginalized groups or fail to adjust their own strategies according to the different cultural
contexts.
Opportunities that can be found within a competitive landscape are innovation-driven;
innovation is anything related to technology initiatives, such as campaigns for awareness,
education, and social engagement (Nguyen et al, 2019). Collaboration among organizations,
interchange of best practices and resources, present a possible solution for multiplying impact.
Also, threats are resource limitations, public unconcern, and persistent social attitude changes.
Navigating this terrain, our obligation is thus to learn not only from the strength and weaknesses
of others but further in providing unique and innovative solutions geared at advancing the
collective course of ending violence against women and girls.
