500-750 words. The best responses will use key terms and concepts from in and outside of the text and showcase a firm understanding of course content. Format MLA or APA style.
Describe the importance of media literacy in the 21st century. Describe an actual event related to media economics, print media, sound media, motion media, video games OR* Internet content where media literacy was or is imperative for understanding the context, importance and truth of the event.
Examples of events could include: presidential campaigning; file sharing/”piracy” online; gaming; politics on social media; privacy on the Internet; violent/sexual content on film/TV; social networking; debates over mass shootings; etc
Paper #2
500-750 words. Use examples from within and without the textbook to support your arguments. These are very broad topics, so you have a great amount of room for flexibility.
Identify and discuss how culture and society affect media.
Response Papers: (2 total, 200 points each, app. 500-750 words)
You will need to source the book and news sources and/or peer reviewed articles. Essays must be double spaced and APA or MLA style. Microsoft Word is preferable.
The topics are deliberately brief and provocative in order to encourage your own arguments and interpretations.
