For this discussion, you are going to take a look back at how far you have come as a communicator, what you still need to work on, and what strengths you possess. Please answer the following questions with a 3-5 sentence answer, utilizing personal examples, information from readings, or general observations.

Since the beginning of the course, what, if anything, have you learned about how you communicate? What has changed in your communication that has made you a better communicator?
What have you found as one of your weaknesses as a communicator? How are you going to try to make yourself more effective in this manner?
What skill is a strength of yours and how do you envision being able to apply it in your future career?

Review the posts made by your classmates and choose someone to whom you can offer suggestions to for improving that weakness.

Since the beginning of this course I have learned that when communicating with others I am not a great listener. This course has made me aware that I need to listen to others when they are speaking. I am making myself to allow the person I am speaking with to finish before I speak and not interrupt them.

I have found that one of my weaknesses is I tend to daydream if someone is talking about something that is of no interest to me. I am trying to be more aware of my body language so I do not appear bored. I make myself ask the person questions so I can try to keep myself engaged in the conversation.

I feel that a skill that is a strength of mine is being able to read people. I watch people’s body language and can usually tell if they are being honest. I feel this will help me in management and not be a pushover for employees trying to take advantage of me.
