Human resource professionals can use the database to conduct a job analysis, write or update job descriptions, or compile salary data for thousands of jobs. It is a trusted source of reliable and valid job information developed and maintained by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Employment and Training Administration. You will use the O*NET database throughout the course. Along with your textbook appendix, this exercise provides a walk-through of some basic best practices for using the tool.

Based on the information you find, you will complete the Using O*NET Research Template, linked below. Download the template and change the file name to include your first initial and last name (for example, cf_BUS335_w02a1_template.docx_SPeters). Then, answer each section in the template using complete sentences and a professional tone. Be sure to cite your sources of information.

Download Using O*NET Research Template [DOCX], state your job title and the title and number of the job you researched in the O*NET database, Then, complete the following:

Compare your own job to the position you selected in the O*NET database.
Briefly summarize your own job.
Use the tasks, technology skills, work activities, skills, knowledge, education, and abilities listed to detail your comparison.
Describe what surprised you the most about the O*NET database. Explain your response.
Use at least two sources to support your writing, including the textbook and O*NET Online. Choose sources that are credible, relevant, and appropriate, and cite your sources correctly. For help with research, writing, and citation, access the library or review library guides.
List your sources in the Sources section of the template.

When you are finished, save your work and submit the completed template.
