Photography, film, video, and digital animation–once futuristic technologies–are all considered art forms today. Did you know that many contemporary art museums have film curators? Even general art museums are featuring the movie industry. A few years ago, I was lucky enough to see Animating Life: Laika Studios at the Portland Art Museum. Laika Studios is known for The Boxtrolls and Coraline, among others. In San Diego, Comic-Con has become a global cultural destination and now, Balboa Park is home to the Comic-Con Museum!For this discussion, imagine yourself a film historian.
