Topic: Write on a Frederick Douglass painting.In this assignment, copy-and-paste your chosen painting (please use a painting from the course powerpoints) into a document and shrink it. Try to develop an argument about meaning, significance, or implications of the painting — as we always do in our analyses.So far, we’ve been using textual or narrative forms of art — but the principles remain the same for interpreting visual art. Instead of quotations, however, visual analysis requires you to cite details and formal elements of the painting as evidence.The overall grading rubric remains the same: do you have an original insight into the work? Do you organize your paragraphs clearly? Do you cite lots of formal evidence from the painting?
