Description: In this assignment you will create a contour line drawing of your own face.

Step 1: Take a picture of yourself giving an ‘over the shoulder smolder’ pose. This is a pose where you look back over your shoulder towards the camera. See the photo below for an example. The point of using this pose where you neck is turned is to practice our ability to draw the head in a pose that is not flat towards the camera. Don’t worry it doesn’t need to be a glamour shot. Also you will only draw your head, no need to draw your shoulders or torso.

Step 2: Create the borders of your drawing, and then begin by laying in an egg shape to denote your cranium position.

Step 3: Draw a rounded triangle shape to show where your face is

Step 4: Draw the position of the trapezius muscle using a trapezoid or triangle

5: Draw a line to denote the throat

Step 6: Draw axis lines across the face that denote the eye line and bisection of the face.

Step 7: Go to town drawing the basic features of the face, focusing on their proportion and positioning. There is no need for intricate detail or shading. You will be graded primarily on your ability to place and proportion the features accurately.

Step 8: Post your complete drawing to this assignment and the discussion titled “Portraits”
