What is Google Slides? Google SlidesLinks to an external site. is a web-based application software that allows you to create presentations, very similar to Microsoft PowerPointLinks to an external site.. It is one of many application in the Google Apps suite. Having a Google email address (Gmail) automatically give you access to Google Slides and 100% free of charge and accessible from just about any PC with an internet connection. Google Slides allows you to create dynamic slide presentations that include animation, narration, images, videos, and much more. However, we will only use the basic features for this assignment.

Follow the step below and refer to the video at the bottom for visual instructions.

STEP 1: RESEARCH THE APP YOU WILL DISCUSS IN YOUR PRESENTATION:

In this step you will choose one Application Software (aka App) that you like and use often. It can be an app you use on your PC, Online, Phone or all three. You will be asked to elaborate on this app, so make sure you are very familiar with the app.

If you are not familiar with any application at this point, it’s ok. Simply do a Google search for “Popular Software Applications” and read/practice with an application the strikes your interest. You can also log into your Google Drive and practice with the many different Google Apps available to you as a Gmail account holder.

STEP 2: CREATE A GOOGLE SLIDES PRESENTATION:

Open your Google Drive account.
Click on New and then click on the click on Google Slides to create a Blank presentation.
This will open up a Google Slides presentation in a separate tab on your browser.
NOTE: For best results use the Google Chrome as your browser.
Slide 1: Your first slide is created by default for you and it is called the Title slide layout.
Type “Application Software Presentation” as your title.
Type the name of the application you chose and your last name in the subtitle. For example: FitBit iPhone App – Andersen
Choose a Theme to give your presentation some life instead of the default black and white.
This Theme will be applied to all your following slides automatically.
Slide 2: Create a second slide and use the Title and body layout.
Title this slide “About the [Name of your app] App”. For example: About the FitBit App
In the Body box below the title you will create a bulleted list with three (3) of your favorite features of the app and a sub-bullet explaining what each feature does.
Slide 3: Create a third slide and use the Title and two columns layout.
Title this slide “[Name of your app] Images”. For example: FitBit Images.
Insert two images of your app. One image in each of the column boxes below the title.
Take a look at the following example so you have a general idea of what to create.
