Instructions/Steps –

Review all the various definitions of nursing presented in your Learning Resources, especially the ANA, the CNA, and the various nursing theory definitions.
Analyze (this word means think about and compare and contrast) these definitions for the following:
concepts that appear in many of the definitions.
concepts that appear in some.
concepts that you believe are important to nursing but which do not appear very frequently.
Write 2-3-page formal paper providing your analysis.
As the final element in your paper, write your own definition of nursing.
If you present a definition that is from your own experience and beliefs, and it does not mention much or any of the concepts, content, or knowledge from Learning Resources, be sure to write a strong rationale for why you think your definition is descriptive of nursing. Include evidence from the nursing literature to support your view.
Knowledge of content and concepts can be gleaned from the week’s Learning Resources, review of definitions above, from your own experience and beliefs; and/or from the IOM Report: Future of Nursing (which suggests roles of nurses that you might not have considered or experienced.)
To demonstrate understanding and that your ideas are supported by current evidence and knowledge, be sure to do the following as a minimum in your post:
Include at least one, current week, Learning Resource to support your work.
Additionally, include at least one new current (within 5 years) UIC library source into your post. This is one not found in the learning materials (those can be used to meet the first requirement).
This paper is a formal written assignment.

Even though nursing is a profession, bullying is still possible in the workplace (American
Nurses Association [ANA], n.d.). Incivility is common is select areas of the hospital (ANA,
n.d.). Massachusetts was the first in the United States to come up with the plan of relocating
nursing facility residents to focus on care of COVID patients (Gurwitz, 2020).
Florence Nightingale was a nurse in the Crimean War (Gill, 2005).
Women should not be penalized for using opioids while pregnant because doing so will cause
neglect of prenatal care (Krans & Patrick, 2016).
Fellowships help innovate one’s own leadership (Machon et al., 2019).

Referencing accuracy is important as it credits other authors and their work in someone
else’s paper. It is of great importance that referencing is properly done to avoid plagiarism. Many
do not know that not only are direct quotes cited, but ideas and paraphrasing because once again
these are someone else’s ideas or thoughts not one’s own.
