Description
Overview
William Shakespeare certainly had a point of view about Theatre and how it imitates life. He often commented on it directly in his plays. This shows how much Theatre was a part of life then and continues to reflect back what we as society experience. Shakespeare was a master of the SoliloquyLinks to an external site.. Similar to an actor’s monologueLinks to an external site., characters in William Shakespeare’s plays often shared what was on their mind to others, and sometimes even to themselves, which is a theatrical convention that we, as audiences, just accept as theatre-goers even though it may not directly imitate life.
The character of Jacques, in William Shakespeare’s play, As You Like ItLinks to an external site., is often credited with being melancholic, and a philosopher. His soliloquy has a deeper meaning.
