Description
This assignment is designed to help you tell your chosen emerging public health issue story to a public health official who might be interested in your emerging issue. You will incorporate an infographic in an e-mail to a leader in your community.
Note: In this course, your infographic will be used as an addendum to your public health policy brief to the CDC. In addition, the infographic you create could also form the basis for a poster session at a professional association meeting, or a handout at a community meeting.
Preparation
Complete the following:
Find a local community leader: You will need to find someone specific in your local community, locate their contact information, and address the e-mail to them personally.
Conduct an Internet search: Use the Internet to become familiar with typical examples of public health infographics. You will find links to examples of infographics in this week’s suggested readings.
Instructions
Part One: Infographic
Create a 1–3-page infographic related to your emerging healthcare issue using a combination of images and evidence in the form of an infographic. The purpose of this infographic is to educate and inspire action.
Part Two: Action E-mail
Locate a person in an organization that is currently active and working on your issue in your local community.
Action step: Prepare and send an e-mail to this person with a copy of your infographic and request their perspective and input on the issue you have chosen from their real-world experience with the issue.
Note: In the event you get a quick response (a response is not required to satisfy this assignment), share what you received as an addendum to your final public policy brief in Week 9.
